Urban extractivism. Contesting megaprojects in Mexico City, rethinking urban values

چکیده

Urban extractivism is an emergent concept increasingly discussed within Latin America-based scholarship but less known in anglophone urban geography. The devastating social and environmental impact of large-scale natural resource extraction, usually accompanied driven by infrastructure megaprojects, the main domain to which activists scholars are currently applying extractivism. However, extractivism-related accumulation also applies contexts, as for instance, argue using this lens analyze production exclusive territories central Buenos Aires. In contribution, I suggest broaden address pressing challenges transformations peripheries Mexico City, particularly concerning megaprojects Indigenous socio-territorial movements that advocate a more sustainable use resources.
